Exhibition Resume
MGNE's second biennial National Juried Exhibition of Monotypes and Monoprints will be on display at the Fitchburg Art Museum in Fitchburg, Massachusetts from September 26, 2010 through January 2, 2011. The exhibit celebrates the 25th Anniversary of the founding of the Monotype Guild of New England in 1985.
We are very appreciative of all those who entered. There was an amazing response to our call-for-entry - 313 artists from 36 states sent submissions. 111 pieces have been selected from over 900 images for inclusion in this national exhibition. The range and quality of the work submitted was diverse, interesting, and competent, making the choices difficult for our juror, Joann Moser.
All of the accepted artworks are listed below. If your name is not included in our artist list, then your work was not selected for this exhibition. However, we encourage all of you who can possibly attend, to join us at the opening reception on September 26, 2010 from 1-3pm at the Fitchburg Art Museum in Fitchburg, MA. We look forward to meeting each you.
If you are not yet a member of MGNE, we hope you will consider joining this community of artists and taking advantage of future exhibitions and workshop opportunities available to our members. We also encourage you to watch for our next national exhibition in 2012. You will be included in our mailing list, and will receive notification. Remember, each juror is different, and what one juror rejects is often selected by another.
Congratulations to all participating artists listed below.

Joann Moser has been the Senior Curator of Graphic Arts at the Smithsonian American Art Museum since 1986. Dr. Moser received her Ph.D. in art history from the University of Wisconsin, Madison in 1976. She completed her master's degree at the University of Wisconsin and she holds a B.A. in art history from Smith College. Her book, Singular Impressions: The Monotype in America, was published in 1997. She organized the recent exhibition, What's it All Mean: William T. Wiley in Retrospect, as well as contributed essays to the accompanying book. She has written on the famous printmaking workshop, Atelier 17, and on collaborative printmaking in the United States before 1960. She has published an essay on the prints of Nathan Oliveira and has written the lead essay for an upcoming catalog of the prints of Sean Scully.
The Fitchburg Art Museum was founded at the bequest of Miss Eleanor Norcross. During the years between 1880 and 1920, when Miss Norcross lived in Paris, she became deeply impressed by the quality of small rural museums and their impact on public education. She returned to Fitchburg with the idea of founding a museum that would inspire a love for the arts. She donated her extensive collection of European paintings, Islamic, Asian and European fine and decorative art, classical antiquities, her own work, and $10,000. The Museum opened in 1925. In addition to its permanent collection and changing exhibitions, it has a robust educational agenda which includes classes for adults and children.
We will need help from many volunteers in many areas:
Conducting one or two day workshops
Conducting gallery tours and talks
Receiving and unpacking artwork
Hanging the exhibition
Planning the opening reception
Producing publicity materials
Seeking vendor awards
Taking down the exhibit and packing artwork
Be thinking of how you can participate in this very exciting exhibition. Details will follow.
