Elizabeth Erickson D’Amico damico@tds.net
Elizabeth Erickson D’Amico has taught art in both public and private schools on all levels, kindergarten through grade twelve. Before becoming adjunct in the visual arts department at Plymouth State University in 2002, Elizabeth served as a mentor for PSU art education students. As a result of her teaching experience, Elizabeth continues to explore a variety of media for her own artistic expression. She loves painting and printmaking most, but some of her recent work is with ceramics, encaustic painting and box assemblages. She draws inspiration from nature and the beauty to be found there. Elizabeth exhibits regularly in regional exhibits and her work is in private collections locally and nationally. Elizabeth is also a professional musician and a contributing author to national art education magazines. Elizabeth holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Syracuse University, a Masters degree from Columbia University. She lives with her husband, Andrew, in Springfield, NH. Artist’s Statement A very important part of who I am is expressed in the very process of how I approach art. I have been an educator for almost forty years and have always enjoyed learning and sharing the spirit of learning. This is probably why I am never content to explore just one medium. I continue to experiment with a variety of media as I teach. Recently, I have especially enjoyed experimenting with collage, box assemblages and ceramics, but I continue to enjoy printmaking and painting most. I draw inspiration from personal feelings as much as from nature and the beauty to be found there. Light and how it affects what we see has always been a fascination for me in whatever medium I choose to work.
