ARTIST STATEMENT

My goal is to capture the essential mystery, excitement, strength, or splendid calm of my subject.

I incorporate my love of travel, trees, color, and energy as I explore monotypes (using a gelatin plate).
Teaching adds a new dimension as I discover the pleasure of allowing adults to try new or long delayed experiences.

Born in Missouri in 1940, I majored in Russian studies and discovered art at Randolph-Macon Woman's College. In the late 1980's I began studying seriously and since 1989 my work has been widely exhibited.
Solo shows include The Fuller Museum of Art, North Central Missouri College, and Nancy's Airfield Cafe, Stow MA.

I have won awards in juried shows at the Cambridge Art Association, the Newton Art Association, and have been included in numerous juried shows including Artcetera, DeCordova Museum's Art in the Park, Cambridge Art Association, Concord Art Association, Two Collection of the Channel Two Auction, as well as non-juried events including the SMFA December Sale where I am a Medici Artist.

My work is in private and corporate collections across the US, Canada and Europe.
