ARTISTS’ STATEMENT
My intent as a painter and a printmaker of the landscape is to bring the
viewer into my vision, by assisting to expand the viewer’s capacity to
interpret, by way of exploring the many possibilities that exist in how we
look at the world around us. Color and light, their interaction, the way they
affect everything around them, as well as the simplicity of form that lies
beneath detail are all factors which impact my work. Of great importance to
me as well is the nature of the process, particularly in printmaking, whereby
I set up goals for myself in trying to push certain processes to resemble
other processes, striving for a similar result without compromising each
individual technique. I strongly believe in the constant experimentation of
materials and technique to not only broaden my options as an artist, but to
avoid a comfortable complacency in my work.
