       Artist Statement

My current work is inspired from the landscape, a subject matter I have always been drawn towards. A typical image is small, minimal, and sometimes abstract in arrangement. Land, water, and sky are often the only elements suggested. Once an composition is decided upon I complete different versions of the same scene. Through my exploration I want to capture an atmosphere of mystery, richness, and depth.

The monoprinting process allows for pleasant surprises to occur. I use different materials such as paper towels, q-tips, brushes, textured paper, and watercolor pencils. I enjoy revealing the history of my mark making process. My goal with these works is to create beauty through color and texture, while fostering a process that is creative and compelling for myself.
