The Monotype Guild of New England, Inc. is celebrating its 20th anniversary with Coming of Age, a traveling portfolio of unique prints selected by Joann Moser, senior Curator of Prints at the Smithsonian Museum of American Art, Washington, DC. We are now scheduling exhibit venues in the US for 2006 - 2008 and overseas shows for 2008- 2009. Eventually the portfolio will be retired to a museum collection in New England.

The work consists of 30 monotypes / monoprints by 30 outstanding artists. The prints are on quarter sheets (11” x 15”) and represent the versatility of the medium as well as a diversity of artistic vision.  The educational benefits of this exhibit could apply to school groups, printmakers, and artists as well as to the general public. In fact, if you would like to schedule a monotype demonstration or workshop or a gallery talk while the portfolio is on exhibit, a highly qualified member of the Guild could accommodate your request.  The cost would only be for travel, food, and lodging.

The planners have kept exhibition costs at a minimum.

§         Installation is streamlined. Unframed prints are packaged in clear, archival sleeves that can be hung by means of clips (provided).  The prints are contained in an archival portfolio box and the shipping box is reusable. Included with the artwork is a CD containing relevant information: media publicity, photos, MGNE logo, artist statements, juror statement, formatted labels, etc.

§         MGNE will pay for shipping and insurance while in transit both to and from your gallery.  Your gallery/organization will be required to assume liability for the prints while in your care to the extent of $250 per print (total of $7500.)

The prints in the portfolio, Coming of Age, will not be for sale. However, should an interest in other works (prints) by the exhibiting artists arise, contact information will be included. Any potential sales should be arranged between the collector and the artist. MGNE will not be involved in any sales nor expect a commission.

If you have an interest in hosting this special exhibit, have questions or want to discuss details, please feel free to contact me. Thank you for taking the time to consider our proposal.

Sincerely,
