Kacie Erin Smith

Welcome the day (Alemany Farm)
30 x 22 stencil monotype on paper, 2015.

Kacie’s work explores human actions that build meaning — essential, everyday activities that develop a person’s sense of purpose and belonging. Motifs are translated between canvas, print, and textile, exploring fragmentation and seriality through monotype as well as the ephemeral nature of ideas and experience. Together, the works evoke open-ended feelings, an ambiguous collision of memory and potential.

Originally from California, Kacie Erin Smith earned her BFA in printmaking and drawing at Washington University in St. Louis. She is currently pursuing her MFA at University of New Mexico, Albuquerque.
