12 x 18 encaustic monotype, 2017
My monotypes are an expression of my observations of natural phenomena and are generally abstract in concept. Lately I have been exploring encaustic monotypes and am enjoying the freedom of the flow of the wax.
Muriel Angelil is a graduate of Rhode Island School of Design and of Vermont College of Art. She has been creating monotypes for the last twenty years. Her original monotypes were abstract figurative works of her life experiences. Her monotypes then moved to abstract works inspired by her walks in nature.
Recently Angelil has been exploring encaustic and enjoying the flow of wax and its luminous transparency.
