Small Wonders Juried Members Exhibition

The Monotype Guild of New England invites members in good standing to submit up to TWO monotypes or monoprints for Small Wonders, a juried members exhibition of small works at the Hopkinton Center for the Arts.

Entry Deadline: May 7, 2017

Juror: Lynn Peterfreund is a core faculty member of Zea Mays Printmaking in Florence, MA and has been working as a painter, printmaker and art educator since receiving her MFA in 1980 from Pratt Institute. Her work reflects her interests in both representational and abstract art. Lynn’s most recent bodies of work are monotypes and intaglio prints that employ a vocabulary of forms based on years of working from observation of nature, still life and the figure. Lynn has taught at a variety of institutions over the past forty years. Her work is included in hundreds of public, private and corporate collections. Her mural work can be seen in hospitals, schools, bookstores, museums and homes in western Massachusetts and beyond. Her work can be seen on her website at www.lynnpeterfreund.com.

Awards: The juror will award a first prize of $200, a second prize of $150 and a third prize of $100 and may choose any number of honorable mentions.

Fee: $25 fee for entry of one or two prints.

Eligibility: Your Monotype Guild membership must be up-to-date to participate. To join MGNE or renew your membership, visit mgne.org/membership before beginning the entry process. All prints must be either monotypes or monoprints. For detailed descriptions of those terms, please visit mgne.org/monotypedefined. Work cannot have been shown at an earlier MGNE exhibit. Work must be no larger than 20 inches in either framed dimension.

Framing, Installation and Size Requirements:  Work should be framed  and ready to hang with a wire. Clip-on frames, saw-tooth and keyhole hangers will not be accepted. There is a size limit of 20 inches framed size in either dimension. The gallery director and juror will have final say on any work and may reject work upon arrival that does not meet professional standards for exhibition.

Digital Entry Process: We will begin to take entries on April 7, 2017 and will close the process at midnight, May 7, 2017.
Enter using Entrythingy at http://www.entrythingy.com/d=mgne.org#dashboard. Please fill out all required fields and complete payment of $25 via Paypal. After payment, your entry is automatically submitted. If you need help using Entrythingy, particularly adding a second piece, go to mgne.org/entrythingy-help for additional information. PLEASE NOTE: Your name and artwork title will appear exactly as entered in Entrythingy. Check spelling and capitalization for accuracy!
Only a JPEG file will be accepted. JPEGs must have a resolution of 300 dpi and be 1800 pixels on the longest side. Please name your file this way: last name_first name.jpg.
Juror’s results will be announced on May 16, 2017.

Insurance: Hopkinton Center for the Arts will insure the work during the exhibition. They will not be responsible for damage caused by poorly constructed frames or work.

Publicity: Digital files must be print-quality. By entering this exhibition, each artist grants consent for the use of submitted images for reproduction in print, for publicity and for educational purposes by both MGNE and Hopkinton Center for the Arts.

Sales: Sales will be encouraged and Hopkinton Center for the Arts will receive a commission of 30% of the sale price. Please price your work accordingly.

Delivery: June 16, 2017, between 10am–3pm or Saturday, June 17, 2017, 10am–2pm. Artists must complete and include a contract for Hopkinson Center which can be downloaded here. Please label all artwork with your name and the title of the piece and include the completed contract.

Pick-Up: August 25, 2017, between 9am–3pm or August 26, 2017, from 10am–2pm.

Shipped Work: You may send shipped work to arrive at Hopkinson Center for the Arts, 98 Hayden Rowe Street, Hopkinton, MA 01748, Attention: MGNE, between June 2 and June 16. Artists must label all work on the back. Artists must complete and include a contract for Hopkinson Center which can be downloaded here. You must include a pre-paid return label from UPS or FEDEX with your shipment.We cannot deliver to the U.S. Post Office. We cannot accept work with packing peanuts. Please use a sturdy box that can be reused for return.Work arriving late may not be hung.Work arriving damaged will be returned immediately.

Release: It is agreed that MGNE, its members and/or volunteers will not be held responsible for any loss or damage to entrants’ work while being transported, stored, hung, exhibited, taken down or otherwise handled during the course of this exhibition. All work will be treated with respect and care.
