Renowned Artist Karen Kunc to jury Monotype Guild of New England: 40 Years of Unique Prints exhibition at the Art Complex Museum in Summer 2025.

The Monotype Guild of New England (MGNE) is thrilled to announce that distinguished artist and educator Karen Kunc has been selected as the juror for its 40th anniversary monoprint and monotype print exhibition, Monotype Guild of New England: 40 Years of Unique Prints, set to take place at the Art Complex Museum in Duxbury, Massachusetts, during the summer of 2025.

This milestone exhibition will celebrate four decades of artistic innovation and excellence in monotype and monoprint practices from across the United States. Karen Kunc’s expertise and artistic vision make her uniquely qualified to shape this celebratory event, which will highlight the innovative and diverse approaches to the medium.

Kunc, an internationally acclaimed printmaker, is celebrated for her vibrant, abstract woodcut prints and her dynamic career as an educator and founder of Constellation Studios in Lincoln, Nebraska. Her art explores themes of nature, abstraction, and human experience, earning her accolades such as a Guggenheim Fellowship and invitations to exhibit in major galleries and museums worldwide.

“Monotype and monoprint are remarkable forms of printmaking, allowing artists to embrace spontaneity and creativity,” said Kunc. “It’s an honor to jury this milestone exhibition, and I look forward to celebrating the incredible talent and innovation of this artistic community.”

The juried exhibition will feature selected works from an open call, inviting artists from the US to explore the full range of possibilities within monotype and monoprint techniques. In addition to selecting the featured works, Kunc will present a juror’s statement, providing her insights on the selected pieces and the evolving landscape of printmaking.

“Having Karen Kunc as the juror for this special anniversary exhibition is a privilege,” said Rebecca L. Torres, President of MGNE. “Her distinguished career and deep understanding of the printmaking world will bring an unparalleled depth and perspective to this event.”
