Menino Arts Center Framing Guidelines

SIZE, FRAME AND WIRE REQUIREMENTS:

IF YOUR WORK IS NOT PROPERLY FRAMED OR WIRED YOU WILL BE ASKED TO REFRAME THEM OR REWIRE THEM AT DROPOFF.

  • All 2D work must be properly framed and wired.
  • The MAC Gallery hanging system requires the work be framed EXACTLY as indicated. Please redo previously wired work as required.
  • The screw eyes with wire should be placed as close to the top of the frame as possible, at least within the top 1/8, (NOT 1/3) from the top of the frame.
  • Try to wire with a D-ring if possible. They lay flatter, or put your screw-eyes on the inside of the stretcher.
  • The wire and 1.5″ hanging hook must not extend above the top of the piece when hung. Take excess slack out of wire if needed.
  • No sawtooth hangers.
  • Frames must be sturdy and in good hanging condition.
  • Glass and mats must be clean and free of finger prints.
  • Work will be inspected at drop-off. Any framed work not wired to MAC requirements will not be displayed. Rewired frames will be at the cost of artist.
