The Monotype of New England is thrilled to announce our juror, Rachel Vogel, for our Fall 2023 exhibition LASTING IMPRESSIONS: The Monotype and Monoprint in the Karen and Ted Koskores Gallery at Thayer Academy.

Rachel Vogel, PhD, is the Assistant Curator at the Addison Gallery of American Art, where she focuses on modern and contemporary art. She specializes in postwar printmaking; her dissertation analyzed the significance of print and printmaking for conceptual artists in the 1960s and 70s. Before joining the Addison, Rachel contributed to numerous exhibitions and publications at the Johnson-Kulukundis Gallery at the Harvard Radcliffe Institute, including those of Gala Porras-Kim, Tomashi Jackson, and Dario Robleto, as well as curated exhibitions at Art League Houston and Rice University’s Media Center Gallery, among others. Her writing has been published in the Oxford Art Journal, Art Journal, caa.reviews, and is forthcoming in American Art.

Her dissertation from Harvard, “The Machine That Makes the Art: Printmaking and Conceptual Art, 1965-1975,” analyzes the significance of print and printmaking for conceptual artists, revealing how they marshaled printmaking’s unique qualities to confront conventional notions of authorship, originality, and value. Rachel’s research has been supported by the Smithsonian American Art Museum, the Pittsburgh Foundation, the Richard and Susan Smith Foundation and Harvard University.

SUBMISSIONS for this exhibition close: Midnight on Sunday, August 27, 2023. Please read the full prospectus for information on eligibility, requirements and the entry process – and to submit your work.
