The autumn season is upon us and with it brings lots of exciting new things happening at MGNE.
In less than two weeks, ONCE, the beautiful juried members’ exhibition at Brickbottom Gallery will be closing. Featuring 56 works of art from 45 MGNE artists, ONCE is currently on display through October 17. If you are unable to visit the exhibition before it closes, I encourage you to look through the ONCE exhibition catalog at http://bit.ly/MGNE-OnceCatalog. Designed by MGNE artist Daniel Embree, this full color book includes images of every print in the exhibition, a statement by the juror, Scott Schnepf, and artist statements by many of the artists in the show.
This fall we are also introducing new programming for our members:
- Join us to view the Pastoral to Pop: 20th-Century Britain on Paper exhibition at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston at 10:30am on Sunday, November 1. Meet with fellow MGNE Members to enjoy this unique selection of prints from the MFA collections. For more details and to RSVP, please visit our Facebook Page or contact Diane Francis at dibuck4wh@comcast.net.
- Take a closer look of the exhibition Corita Kent and the Language of Popat the Harvard Art Museums with a guided tour on Sunday, December 6th. More details coming soon…
We are starting to prepare for our Fourth National Show at Attleboro Arts Museum in Spring 2016. We are honored to have Andrew Stevens, Curator of Prints at the Chazen Museum of Art in Madison, Wisconsin as juror for this exhibition. Andrew Stevens curated the exhibition American Monotypes from the Baker/Pisano Collection earlier this year and is considered an expert in the history of monotype and monoprint in America. The Prospectus for this show will be posted on our website starting November 1, 2015. Deadline to submit is midnight on February 1, 2016. For more information, please visit mgne.org/4thnational and stay tuned.
You are a valued member and we look forward to your continued participation in MGNE. An added benefit to your MGNE membership this year is the opportunity to promote exhibitions and workshops that feature monoprints and monotypes via our social media channels. If you have exciting news to share, tag us at @MonotypeGuildNE or email our project coordinator, Sophia Pushkin, at info@mgne.org and we will share it.
We hope you will join us as we continue to grow our community and share our passion for working in the medium of monotype and monoprint.
All the best,
