SALON DES REFUSÉS: Open Members’ Exhibition
May 4 – June 4, 2017
The Galleries at Kimball Jenkins Estate
266 North Main Street, Concord, NH 03301
In 1863, so many paintings were rejected by the Paris Salon, the official annual showcase of French art, that Emperor Napoleon III ordered a new exhibition to be organized, dubbed the “Salon des Refusés”. In the spirit of the “Salon des Refusés” this Monotype Guild of New England’s open show called on our members to submit a print previously rejected by a juror, but that remains a personal favorite.
The Galleries at Kimball Jenkins consist of two exhibition spaces: The Carolyn Jenkins Gallery and The Jill C. Wilson Gallery. The mission of both galleries is to offer exhibition opportunities for artists working in the state, region, and beyond, to showcase the work of students and faculty, as well as curate shows to enhance the studio education curriculum of the School of Art. The hours are Monday to Friday, 9 am – 4pm (or by appointment).
