In celebration of the expansive vision and myriad techniques employed by all monotype and monoprint artists who reside in New England and New York State, the Monotype Guild of New England announces our Regional Juried Exhibition. The Monotype Guild of New England invites all artists who reside in New England and New York State, and are working in the medium of one-of-a-kind prints, to enter up to three works for a juried exhibition at the Slater Memorial Museum of Norwich Academy in Norwich, CT.

ELIGIBILITY: Entry is open to artists who are residents of New England and New York State. MGNE membership is not required. All prints must be either monotypes or monoprints. For detailed descriptions of those terms, go to our website at: https://mgne.org/monotypedefined/. Work cannot have been shown at an earlier MGNE exhibit. There will be a $28 fee for your entry of up to three prints. The juror may select more than one entry per artist. Please read the Prospectus for more details.
AWARDS: The juror will review the actual work once it is delivered to the Converse Gallery. She will select prize and award winners: First Prize: $700 • Second Prize: $500• Third Prize: $300 • Honorable Mentions.
JUROR: Catherine Kernan, a Master Printer, has produced commissioned editions for the Print Club of Cleveland, the Print Club of Rochester, and the Flint Institute of Art. In 2018, she was awarded a grant from the Pollack Krasner Foundation. Catherine is also a founding partner of Mixit Print Studio, an open access professional studio in Somerville, Massachusetts. She has held teaching appointments at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, among other institutions. From 2010 until 2017, Catherine was Director of Maud Morgan Arts, an art center in Cambridge, MA. Her work is in many public and private art collections, including Achenbach Foundation for Graphic Arts, Boston Public Library, Grunewald Collection, New York Public Library, Library of Congress, Detroit Institute of Art, Davison Art Center at Wesleyan University, and the Harvard Art Museums. Kernan is co-author with with Laura Einstein and Janice Oresman of ‘Singular and Serial: Contemporary Monotype and Monoprint,’ published in 2019.
MUSEUM: The Slater Memorial Museum presents several permanent or long-term exhibitions in spaces on two levels, accessible via elevator or stairs. These include the museum’s inaugural exhibition of plaster cast copies of the great ancient Greek, Roman, Middle Eastern and Renaissance sculpture. The Slater Memorial Museum also regularly presents and hosts up to six temporary exhibitions annually in its large, airy Converse Art Gallery.
