MGNE is celebrating its 40th annual meeting with guest speakers from the Harvard Art Museums’ Elizabeth Rudy, Carl A. Weyerhaeuser Curator of Prints, and Abby Schleicher, Assistant Paper Conservator, for a behind-the-scenes look at the special exhibition Edvard Munch: Technically Speaking, on view through July 27, 2025.
Edvard Munch: Technically Speaking offers rare insight into the Norwegian artist’s innovative techniques and experimentation with printmaking. MGNE will be raffling two limited edition tote bags from the Edvard Munch: Technically Speaking exhibition to participants that join us via Zoom on June 30th.
Meeting Schedule:
- 7-7:45pm: Edvard Munch: Technically Speaking with guest speakers Elizabeth Rudy and Abby Schleicher.
- 7:45-8:15pm: Report on last year’s activities of the Guild and current National Juried exhibition at the Art Complex Museum

Speakers:
Elizabeth M. Rudy is the Carl A. Weyerhaeuser Curator of Prints at the Harvard Art Museums, where she stewards the collection of roughly 60,000 prints made in Europe and the Americas from the 15th century to the contemporary era. She holds a Ph.D. from Harvard University, and her research focuses on prints of the 18th and 19th centuries, with particular interests in etching, book illustration, and works by the artist Pierre-Paul Prud’hon. She has published widely on prints, Her recent exhibitions at Harvard include Edvard Munch: Technically Speaking (March 7, 2025–July 27, 2025), LaToya M. Hobbs: It’s Time (March 1, 2024–July 21, 2024), Dare to Know: Prints and Drawings in the Age of Enlightenment (September 16, 2022 – January 15, 2023), Prints from the Brandywine Workshop and Archives (March – July, 2022), and States of Play: Prints from Rembrandt to Delsarte (September, 2021 – January, 2022).
Abby Schleicher specializes in the conservation and preservation of art on paper. At Harvard Art Museums, she is currently focused on working with prints, particularly exploring the techniques and visual elements of Edvard Munch’s works. In addition, she is delving into Asian papers, studying their identification, treatment, and unique characteristics. She holds an M.A. and certificate of advanced study in Art Conservation from SUNY Buffalo State. She has previously held positions at The Menil Collection, the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, the Clyfford Still Museum, The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, and Heugh-Edmondson Conservation, LLC.
