Susan A. Byrne

BIO

I was born in Dublin, Ireland and graduated from Dublin City University with a degree in Computer Science. After enjoying a 30 year career, I ‘rewired’ to explore my creative path. Throughout the years, I studied at Massachusetts College of Art, Art New England, Zea Mays Printmaking, and Ballinglen Art Foundation (Ireland) – concentrating primarily on printmaking techniques.

Printmaking provides me with an interplay of logical and creative processes that are perfect for my visual explorations. I am inspired by patterns, layering, abstraction, and a deep sense of connection to my ancestry. Working primarily in woodcut, I combine this technique with other printmaking processes to achieve the layers and textures that carry my way of seeing and feeling.

I am an active member of the Zea Mays Printmaking community since 2022, and an artist member of Visual Artists of Ireland, Southern Vermont Arts Center, Center for Contemporary Printmaking, Cambridge Art Association and AVA Gallery and Arts Center.
